This approach aligns with the strategy set out in the 1996 Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples Report (RCAP). That is, RCAP recommended that First Nations 'prepare for recognition' of sovereignty by strengthening governance including to: determine your government structure & institutions, develop internal processes to build consensus, engage your citizens, and integrate your distinct culture into government processes.
We provide strategic advice and on-the-ground support to our clients undertaking governance initiatives and projects. Our experience has involved working with Councils, hereditary leaders, committees and other teams mandated to coordinate this work. We understand each Nation is travelling its own unique journey. Our commitment is to work alongside your team to strengthen governance within your community. We believe this can be accomplished one project - one policy - one step at a time.
First we meet with your team (in-person or by teleconference) to assess your governance requirements. This may include to clarify objectives, project scope and deliverables and timeframes. We then submit a proposal & budget for your consideration. Please feel free to contact us.
