Expressing our collective commitment to language and culture revitalization

Sheldon Tetreault Consulting recently had the pleasure of completing a project with Tsawwassen First Nation to support their work to renew a ten-year culture and language revitalization plan called “Our Living Traditions Strategy”.

Our work included guidance from the Tsawwassen First Nation Steering Committee on Language and Culture and many hours of devoted work from the Tsawwassen First Nation Language and Culture Department.   Community engagements provided the guidance and foundation for this endeavour.

It was inspiring to work with a Nation and community that face very real threats and challenges to their cultural preservation and are addressing this through a focussed effort to sustain and enhance cultural knowledge and the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ language.  The new Our Living Traditions Strategy is guided by a Tsawwassen First Nation Cultural Vision and identifies specific goals and objectives for the next ten years.  It honours the knowledge keepers, Elders, and youth who bring hope and life to this work.

hay ce:p q̓ə Tsawwassen First Nation for inviting us into this important work.
